GAUSS ELECTROMAGNETIC GUN
GAUSS ELECTROMAGNETIC GUN
All avid gamers know perfectly well what Gauss Gun is . And many would like to have in reality a similar thing that shoots rods dispersed by a magnetic field. Assembling such a gun from scratch is quite difficult (especially without experience in radio electronics), but China, as usual, comes to the rescue and is ready (for a moderate fee) to anyone who wants to send an electromagnetic multi-stage accelerator in the form of a do-it-yourself kit. The set is naturally not for pampering, but for teaching physics, exciting experiments, scientific and educational models.
The process of launching projectiles from electromagnetic pistols can simply be imagined as a strong magnetic field generated by coils, attracting iron cores to move forward and fly them out of the tube at speed.
After pressing the start button, voltage is applied to the coil so that it can generate a magnetic field and attract (pull in) the projectile so that it can move forward at speed. The projectile passes through a photoelectric trigger that controls the coil. Gauss Ghana of two or three and so on steps are similar, this is done so that the metal projectile is additionally accelerated.
Charging time T = 1.5 x Ns required for an N-level electromagnet and must be covered by 400V. For example, the second level takes 3s and the third level takes 4.5s. If you need to speed up charging, please purchase additional batteries, charging time T = NS.
Usually there are 2 toggle switches and a microswitch on the module, and it works as follows:
- First, turn the two toggle switches to the middle position, and then connect the power supply or battery, at this time the LED on the capacitor board is lit.
- Switch the power switch, at this time, the indicator on the auxiliary module is on.
- Toggle the gain switch to play high frequency sound, indicating that it is being amplified. Pay attention to the change of the voltmeter. For the first start, the recommended voltage is 150-250V, and then you need to turn the switch to the other side. At this time, you can launch a shot. The indicator light is on to indicate that it is ready to start. At this time, insert the projectile, and the projectile head should enter the coil about 5mm, and then press the launch switch to use it.
- After the operation is completed, you can adjust the potentiometer to increase the voltage. The voltage rises when the potentiometer is turned clockwise. It is recommended not to exceed 400V to avoid damaging the capacitor.
When testing a Gaussian mass accelerator, the parameters are as follows: speed after tuning 51 ms – 3.18 J, weight of a 5.5 / 16 mm blank – 2.5 grams, pumping at 340 volts 254 J, efficiency 1.25%.
USAGE PRECAUTIONS
- Do not charge the capacitor over 450 volts. Be careful to avoid electric shock during the experiment.
- The product is dangerous due to kinetic energy. Do not aim at people or animals during experiments. Minors must be accompanied by their parents for assembly/testing.
- The minimum output current of the power supply (depending on the model) must be at least 5 A, the maximum must not exceed 15 A.
